My name is Ren (he/him). I'm glad youre here!

I went to middle school, high school and community college in San Diego, California. I transferred to Oregon State University in 2012 with an Associates in English (because reading is FUN)...and dropped out within a year.

Turns out a four year university was not for me at 20. I went to a beauty school in Oregon because I realised that helping people feel like themselves is what wakes me up in the morning. In 2014 I graduated and completed all licensing requirements in hair, esthetics, and nails.

Once behind the chair, I completed an apprenticeship at a high end day spa. Then I spent the next 7 years working in a hair only shop.

While in Corvallis, Oregon I focused on alternative styles, short hair, and vivid colors.

When 2020 hit, I realized I wanted to be able to support my clients in a more meaningful way— so I went back to OSU and finished my Bachelor’s in Psychology. I moved to Portland in 2022 to work in the social services field, where I learned that computers and clicking buttons... Not for me. I thrive when I am creating space and talking with people... just not behind a desk.

So in 2023, I jumped at the chance to teach at a beauty school. I firmly believe that information sharing and education is key to us becoming stronger as a community. (stronger by being interconnected).

Since 2025– I am back behind the chair in Portland. I truly missed building connections and helping people feel more like themselves. The person and the stylist I am today has been influenced by every person who has sat in my chair or shared their experience with me. I am excited to meet you and support you in your journey.
